    The Czech Ministry of Defense plans to purchase about 16,000 CZ 75 pistols, 8,500 rifles and over 300 advanced anti-tank guns as part of weaponry modernization of its ground forces, the ministry’s spokesperson said.

    PRAGUE (Sputnik) – According to the defense ministry spokesperson, the Czech Republic is striving first of all to replace outdated Russian military equipment.

    "First of all we want to eliminate the major shortfalls in the armaments of the ground forces before 2020," Miroslav Hlavac stressed on Friday.

    After 2025, the country plans to find replacements for the T-72M4 CZ tanks, which are an upgraded Czech version of the Soviet-made T-72 battle tank, Hlavac said.
