A powerful roadside bomb exploded in Istanbul on Tuesday killing 11 and wounding 36 people.

ANKARA (Sputnik) — The results of a preliminary investigation point out at Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) involvement in a bomb attack in Istanbul that killed 11 people, Turkish presidency spokesman said Wednesday.

"All evidence gathered so far point at the PKK as the organizer of the attack," Ibrahim Kalin said at a news briefing.

The explosion took place at 8:40 a.m. local time (05:40 GMT) on Tuesday when a police vehicle passed close to a roadside bomb in the central Istanbul district of Beyazit.

The attack killed 11 people, including seven police officers, and wounded 36 others. According to Turkish police, four people have been detained in connection with the attack.
