A powerful explosion took place at 8:40 a.m. local time (05:40 GMT) in the central Istanbul district of Beyazit, which claimed lives of seven police officers, four civilians and injured dozens. The blast occurred when a car with police officers was crossing the street close to the place, where the bomb was planted.
