According to the countries finance minister, Ukrainian government has passed a draft agreement on mutual customs assistance between Kiev and Washington.

KIEV (Sputnik) The Ukrainian government has passed a draft agreement on mutual customs assistance between Kiev and Washington, the country's finance minister announced Wednesday.

"The agreement defines the main areas of cooperation between the customs' administrations to prevent, identify and investigate customs violations," Oleksandr Danylyuk said during a government meeting.

Danylyuk added that the new customs agreement was supposed to replace the deal signed in 1990 between the United States and the Soviet Union, still in force in Ukraine.

The new agreement is due to be signed on May 23 during the visit of the head of the US Customs and Border Protection Service to Kiev. From the Ukrainian side, the deal will be singed by head of State Fiscal Service Roman Nasirov.
