Cash Crisis: If Schengen Goes, the Euro is Finished, Warns Merkel

Europe has to control its outer, not internal borders, and the very existence of the single currency depends on the survival of Schengen, the German chancellor said.

The success of Europe's single market and currency is dependent on the survival of the Schengen Area, German Chancellor Angela Merkel said on Monday, remarking that the EU is "vulnerable" due to a lack of control of migration.

"We are vulnerable … because we do not yet have the order, the control, which we would like," Merkel told an economic forum in Mainz, German newspaper Die Welt reported.

The Schengen Area is supposed to guarantee freedom of movement for people and goods between all but six of the 28 EU member states without border checks.

Romania and Bulgaria are currently in the process of joining Schengen and four states from outside the EU (Iceland, Norway, Switzerland and Liechtenstein) are also a part of the economic area.

Merkel said on Monday that Europe must better control its external borders in order to save Schengen and the single market; as the Eurozone's largest economy, Germany must fight for the preservation of the single market.

"The Euro and the freedom of movement across borders are directly related," Merkel said.

"No one should pretend that you can have a common currency without having a fairly simple crossing of borders."

If member states start imposing controls at the EU's internal borders then "the internal market will suffer massively," warned Merkel.

In November last year Sweden re-imposed checks at the border it shares with Denmark in response to the migrant crisis in Europe, which saw more than one million migrants and refugees enter Europe. In January, the Danish government responded by also introducing border checks at Denmark's border with Germany.

Last week Lithuanian Foreign Minister Linas Antanas Linkevicius warned that the restrictions at borders in the Nordic countries "resemble a domino effect."

"I don't want to dramatize the situation, but I admit — this is a challenge. 2016 will become a serious test for the Schengen area," Linkevicius said.

In business, it is the deals that are not made, or not made public, that are oftentimes the most lucrative ones. If anyone thinks, for example, that there is not money being traded hands in this immigrant "crisis", then I have a few indian tribes left to show you who have still not tasted the "white man's fire water" you can trade with. Germany is Israel's whipping boy for the 99-year obligation to 'bend over' under the Morgenthau Treaty. And that same treaty is open not only to strict interpretation by Israel, but also never complete in details. Smart, but always smarting to Germany. Israel can always make concessions, and Germany, like Keven Bacon's famous line of "Thank you, sir, can I have another?", has to come, continually, to mind. Germany is the "Clean up on aisle one" go to in this matter of the immigrant "crisis", believe me. They are doing exactly what Israel wants them to do with Israel's messing up the Middle East and N. Africa.
  • And where is the problem, grandma merkel?

marcanhalt, I didn't know about the "morgenthau treaty" gonna look it up.

We have all heard the phrase "Hanging by a thread." Nothing should please the European nationalist more than to see the Euro, which is the only unifying feature of Europe, to go the way of the ball and chain. As Wallace said in Bravehart, "FREEDOM!" Get ready for it along with all of the residual headaches for being bad boys and girls in thinking that money was going to solve all of your problems. Get back to basics and run all of the scum out of town. Make certain that the bankers leave the way they intended on leaving you: naked.

Jet fuel can't melt steel beams, Don't depend upon Wikileaks for the final product.

Jet fuel can't melt steel beams, She's just a churl in this matter. If you look carefully at her photos, she has the mouth of a dummy. She asked for the job, but it will not do anything for her resume. Ask Keanu Reeves why he cannot get a serious acting role and you will understand Merkel. She, too, has been typecasting.

marcanhalt, I don't really rely on wikileaks. I'm gonna try voltairenet.org.

marcanhalt, Haha! Well there's that one and Jovanovic's blog (an economist) but if you have other websites i'll be glad to take a look at them! =)

Jet fuel can't melt steel beams, The best ones are in my files. I am not sure yet how vulnerable we are on this site, so I will let you do your rummaging around in the dark for a while. Something tells me that you can be good at that if you have to be. Like the truth, you might have to cast a larger net than most for even one kernel of truth, but it is far better than not looking at all. Where would you and I be, for example, without the example of a Socrates or Plato? Like them, be a gadfly. Come to think of it, that would be a great moniker...
  • Is she going to backflip in 3 days on this statement like she did with Syrian refugees?

A perfect example of re-directing public's attention and creating confusion.

Totally not true statements of German chancellor. Well instructed by her invisible employers.

In fact, everything she does by flooding Europe with ISIS fighters damages the economy much stronger than a passport border control between the EU member-states. Her open-door - for shady - African and Arab - men policies end with violence unseen in any developed country, which violence is moreover heavily under - reported.

People are in shock, after dark everybody's home, costumer sentiment is deadly low, nobody plans vacations when no sign of improvement in security is on the horizon, nobody is ready to take a risk to open a new business when towns are turning into ghettoes - all this affects the economy much more than the couple of minutes waiting for your passport to be checked.

Merkel, one more time, proves she is working for the neocons and banksters but not for regular Germans. Her first thought is how to protect their interest. She's never shown even for a moment that she is shacked by the personal tragedies of these hundreds of German women who's bodies are still caring the scars of the dirty hands playing with them.

How one can even imagine a nation once a symbol of dignity and order will end up as a pariah in the hands of a leader openly accused in a treason?

Observer, "How one can even imagine a nation once a symbol of dignity and order will end up as a pariah in the hands of a leader openly accused in a treason?" Not so fast with this one, my friend. If God could raise up a Putin, and even Churchill stating that "If ever England was in the state that Germany is now, I would pray that God would raise up an Adolph Hitler in that hour." It was even Daniel who said, "Blessed be the name of God forever and ever, for wisdom and might are His. And He changes the times and the seasons; He removes kings and raises up kings; He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding. He reveals deep and secret things; He knows what is in the darkness, and light dwells with Him." Rest assured that Germany will not fail or rise on its own.

So you do something first, then worry about doing it properly later? Only in Merkel's bizarre world.

"Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world." John 4:1 It's time!

Observer Pardon me, but your point is....?

marcanhalt, moving the discussion into a spiritual dimension, I just wanted to remind what we've been warned. Getting nervous when being approached with interpretations about leaders "raised by God". Always being careful.

Merkel prophesies doom, knowing she's the cause, but chooses to blame others.
