"According to the new law, evasion of civil protection service during a special period (with the exception of the recovery period) or in case of a target mobilization can be punished with 2 to 5 years in prison," the Ukrainian news agency UNIAN reported.

According to the news agency, the relevant law was supported by 238 of the 335 deputies of the Ukrainian parliament.

In 2015, partial mobilization in Ukraine is expected to take place in three stages, as it was in 2014. The first stage started on January, 20 and will last 90 days. There are plans to conscript 52,000 people into the armed forces during the first wave of mobilization and recruit about 104,000 in total over the course of the year.
