At least 877 people have died in Haiti because of Hurricane Matthew, The Indian Express reports.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) – At least 175 of the fatalities occurred in villages in the hills and on the coast of Haiti’s western tip, the daily said on Saturday.

Hurricane Matthew has impacted several countries in the Caribbean and has also skirted the Florida coastline. It is now moving toward Georgia state in the United States and is projected to reach the coast of South Carolina on Sunday.

For Haiti, the hurricane is the worst natural disaster since the country’s deadly 2010 earthquake.
