Japanese authorities reportedly said that 23 people were injured after Saturday earthquake.

TOKYO, November 23 (Sputnik) – Japanese authorities said at least 23 people were injured as a result of the Saturday earthquake, with aftershocks expected over the next several days, the NHK channel has reported.

According to the channel, Japanese Meteorological Agency officials warn people of aftershocks in the days to come that follow the 6.8-magnitude earthquake which took place on Saturday.

The earthquake's epicenter was at a depth of some 10 kilometers (6.2 miles) in Nagano Prefecture. Seven houses are said to have been destroyed by the earthquake in the village of Hakuba. More than 20 people have reportedly been rescued.

Several aftershocks have already been registered, with 4.3-magnitude earthquake hitting the village of Otari in northern Nagano on Saturday.

The earthquake was felt in 27 out of 47 prefectures of Japan.
