China is considering legislation that would mandate prison terms of up to three years for those who publicly dishonor the national anthem or flag.

Although legislation passed in September stipulates a 15-day jail sentence for mocking the national anthem of China, a new draft amendment takes punishment a step further. Not only does the draft law only allow the playing of the anthem at certain ceremonies, but it also permits the detention of up to three years for those who disrespect the national anthem or flag.

If this was the case in the US, Kid Rock would've been taken to the slammer immediately after throwing his "patriotic" poncho into the 2004 Superbowl crowd.
