    Dow Jones Industrial Average Closes at All-Time High, Up 65 Points

    The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at the highest level in history on Thursday.

    WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — At the closing bell, the Dow was up some 65 points at 19,191, compared to 19,123 during the previous close.

    US multinational banking company Goldman Sachs contributed the most gains, according to media reports.

    On Wednesday, President-elect Donald Trump nominated Steven Mnuchin, a former Goldman Sachs partner, to be the next US Treasury Secretary.

    The Standard & Poor’s 500 and Nasdaq Composite Index both fell on Thursday. The S&P dropped 0.4 percent, closing at 2,191 and the Nasdaq went down 1.36 percent to close at 5,251.
