BEIJING (Sputnik) — The Land Forces of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) have started two major military drills on the country's north, the Chinese Defense Ministry said in a statement on Thursday.
The first military exercises, dubbed Fire Force 2017, which engage the air defense units will last for 10 days. The troops have started to redeploy military equipment to the Gansu province in the early hours of Thursday, the statement specified.
The second drills are held in the north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.
The drills are aimed at practicing redeployment of troops and equipment for long distances and new fighting strategies.
The Chinese army plans to conduct a total of nine major military drills in 2017.
