18:56 GMT 08.04.2016 (Updated: 15:41 GMT 09.04.2016) The recently published wedding photos of Nguyen Van Thanh, 80, and his wife Nguyen Thi Thuy, 78, have become a hit with readers in Vietnam, Thanh Nien reported on Friday.
Nguyen Van Thanh, 80, and his wife Nguyen Thi Thuy, 78, have finally got married after spending 47 years together and were gifted wedding photos by a professional photographer, Vietnam's Thanh Nien daily reported.
The couple met on a landfill in Hanoi, where they worked scavenging among the garbage. They told the paper that Nguyen Van Thanh first proposed to his wife in 1969, when they moved in together.
Van Thanh has the date, 26/09/1969, tattooed on his arm, but the couple did not have a wedding until now, when a photographer decided to make their dream come true.
