    An official opening ceremony for the cross-cultural year between Russia and Greece was held Friday in Athens with the participation of Russian Deputy Prime Minister Sergei Prikhodko and Greek Culture and Sports Minister Aristides Baltas.

    ATHENS (Sputnik) — The signing ceremony of the cross-year program took place in the Acropolis Museum.

    "Today a very important event for Russia and Greece is taking place. Here, in the most visited museum of the country, we are opening an exhibition of Scythian gold from the collection of the State Hermitage and officially with you are launching cross-cultural years of Russia and Greece," Prikhodko said at the opening ceremony.

    Baltas added that the year-long program would benefit both countries and would open prospects for the cooperation in the fields of culture, tourism, industry and technology.

    Prikhodko’s visit to Greece ends later in the day, during which he met Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras and attended various events dedicated to the cross-cultural year.
