Konstantin Volkov died when he fell on the tracks near the ‘Novogireevo’ platform trying to save a dog.

The 31-year-old officer rushed to rescue the dog and managed to push it on to the platform. Unfortunately, the officer received heavy injuries when he was hit by an oncoming train and succumbed on the spot.

The colleagues of Volkov noted that he had served in Russia's Special Task Force and had received ‘maroon beret’ for his service. Volkov had a wife and a child.
