The German Foreign Ministry warned traveling to the north of the Sinai Peninsula and the Egypt-Israel border area could pose a serious threat due to ongoing military operations and previous terrorist attacks.

BERLIN (Sputnik) — The German Foreign Ministry recommended German tourists on Thursday to abstain from visiting several regions of Egypt, including the Sinai Peninsula, due to a threat of terror attacks and kidnapping.

"There is an increased risk of terrorist attacks and the threat of kidnapping across the country. This can also be targeted against Western entities and citizens," a memo, published on the official website of the German Embassy to Egypt, said.
