The Zimbabwean army agreed to many of Mugabe's demands, including the granting of full immunity to him and his wife Grace, as well as the preservation of his private property after his resignation, according to a source.
Earlier, the central committee of the Zimbabwe African National Union-Patriotic Front Party (ZANU PF) suspended Mugabe from the post of first secretary of the party, and also urged him to resign from the post of president by noon on Monday.

Robert Mugabe, who is 93 years old, was in power for 37 years.

On Wednesday, the military took control of the television center in the capital of Zimbabwe as well as the president’s residence. Mugabe in a telephone conversation with his counterpart from South Africa Jacob Zuma confirmed that the military are keeping him under house arrest.
The turmoil started after Mugabe sacked Mnangagwa from the ruling party. Constantine Chiwenga, head of the national defense forces, warned Mugabe to stop the purge inside the ruling party.
According to reports, Grace Mugabwe, the spouse and once likely successor to ousted president Robert Mugabe, has fled the country, and the dismissed vice-president Emmerson Mnangagwa has returned to the capital to head the government. Earlier, eight out of ten provincial coordinating committees of the party called upon Mugabe to leave the post of the country's president and party leader.
On Saturday, thousands of young people flooded the streets of Harare. They were singing and dancing in expectation of Mugabe’s resignation.
