WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — US forces conducted an airstrike against nine positions of the Daesh terrorist group near the Libyan city of Sirte on Tuesday, the US Africa Command said in a press release.
"This airstrike brings the total number of airstrikes in support of Operation Odyssey Lightning, which began Aug. 1, to 368," the press release stated.
These actions will help deny the Daesh a safe haven in Libya from which it could attack the United States and our allies, the release added.
The Daesh, is a designated terrorist organization that is outlawed in the United States, Russia and other countries.
