TRIPOLI (Sputnik) — Earlier in the day, an Afriqiyah Airways A320 plane, with the reported number of 118 people on board, landed in Malta after it was hijacked.
According to the source, the aircraft for evacuation is ready in the Mitiga International Airport near Tripoli and is waiting for an approval of Maltese authorities to carry out the flight.
Maltese media reported that 109 of 111 passengers had already been evacuated from the hijacked plane.
