"What we propose is nothing new but trying to keep the subject on the agenda and not letting it down because there are other crises in the world," Le Gal told Israeli President Reuven Rivlin, while handing him a letter of credence, as quoted by the Times of Israel.
She also said that France as a member of the UN Security Council was "always keen to propose" solutions to various conflicts.
Rivlin welcomed French efforts aimed at ensuring peace. He also said that Israel was ready for direct peace negotiations but added that Palestinians’ recalcitrance was the reason for failures of the peace process.
Paris is going to host the conference on settlement of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict on December 21. Israel refused to take part in the conference saying that it preferred to hold bilateral talks.
