Trump’s Son-in-Law May Need Nepotism Waiver to Join Israeli-Palestinian Talks
01:18 GMT 24.11.2016 (Updated: 11:24 GMT 06.08.2022) US President-elect Donald Trump’s team will likely need to obtain a waiver from the anti-nepotism law for his son-in-law Jared Kushner, who reportedly could take part in reestablishing peace talks between Israel and the Palestinians, former US House of Representatives Speaker Newt Gingrich said in an interview.
WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Gingrich suggested in the interview to Fox and Friends on Wednesday that Trump's team would have to get a waiver to the anti-nepotism law to make Kushner elegible for participating in the peace talks.
"That might be a little tricky, although I think if they worked at it, they could do it," he said.

Earlier this month, US media speculated that Trump requested security clearance for Kushner in order to attend a highly classified President's Daily Brief.
Trump denied trying to obtain top security clearance for any of his family members. He had repeatedly characterized owners and members of the US corporate mainstream media as some of the most dishonest people.
Gingrich noted in the interview that getting Kushner involved in discussions on the Middle East could benefit the United States, given his knowledge of the region.
The US anti-nepotism law bans federal officials from appointing or promoting any of their relatives to an agency or a department over which the official exercises authority or control.
