NEW YORK (Sputnik) — Sixty-five people were arrested as thousands marched the streets of New York City the night after the US presidential election to denounce the victory of Donald Trump, New York Police Department Lieutenant Thomas Antonetti told Sputnik on Thursday.
"There were 65 arrests last night," Antonetti said. "These arrests were mostly for disorderly conduct, obstructing governmental administration, and resisting arrest."
Trump's victory in the election on Wednesday morning sparked numerous protests across the city.
In New York, the Republican lost the statewide popular vote on Election Day by nearly 2-to-1 margin and was beaten by Hillary Clinton in every borough except Staten Island.
