Moscow is hosting cultural leaders and officials from 33 international cities for the fifth World Cities Culture Summit running between October 5 and 7.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — According to the World Cities Culture Forum (WCCF) network, the issues on the Moscow summit’s agenda include the influence of urban development on the creative atmosphere in large cities; economic development through urban festivals and cultural centers; the influence of technology; how different population groups can get more involved in world cities’ cultural life and how cities’ culture can be used to develop awareness around climate change.

Sessions and panel discussions will be held at cultural institutions across Moscow, including the Patriarchal Palace in the Moscow Kremlin, the Multimedia Art Museum, VDNKh, and the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts.

An international report on the development of culture in the key cities will be published after the summit.

The decision to hold the World Cities Culture Summit in Moscow was announced on May 17, with Moscow only becoming a member of the WCCF last year.

The World Culture Cities Forum was established in 2012 at the initiative of the London mayor.
