Russian boxer Vitaly Dunaytsev on Friday won a bronze medal in men's light welter (64kg) competition at 2016 Rio Olympics.

RIO DE JANEIRO (Sputnik) — Dunaytsev, 24, lost his semifinals bout against Uzbekistan's Fazliddin Gaibnazarov in a split 1-2 decision by judges.

Dunaytsev's bronze brings Russia's total medal count at Rio Olympics to 47.

The 2016 Summer Olympic Games are being held in Brazil’s Rio de Janeiro from August 5 until August 21. Brazil is the first South American country to host the competition.
