WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The US Department of Defense confirmed that al-Shabaab commander Hassan Ali Dhoor was killed in an air strike in Somalia, Pentagon spokesperson Peter Cook said in a press briefing on Monday.

"The Department of Defense has confirmed that Hassan Ali Dhoor, a senior leader of al-Shabaab, al-Qaeda’s affiliate in Somalia, was killed as a result US military strike in Somalia carried out on March 31," Cook told reporters.
