"The United States stands ready to work with Argentina through this historic transition in any way that we can, in any way that we believe and you believe will be helpful," Obama said.
Obama praised Macri’s leadership since assuming office in December 2015, and applauded his role in reassuming Argentina’s "traditional leadership role in the region and around the world."
"We’ve agreed to work together on our response to the Zika virus," Obama stated. "We are going to work together to improve our capacity to detect and respond to, and ultimately prevent the threat of new diseases."
The United States will cooperate with Argentina on fighting terrorism and networks that finance terror, according to Obama.
"President Macri and I agreed to work together to disrupt terrorism, to do more to choke off the terrorism financing mechanisms that are in place, and to keep our people safe when they travel," Obama stated.
In December, the US House of Representatives Financial Services Committee has voted to reauthorize a special task force, which would work on the best ways to monitor and disrupt terrorism financing around the world.
The US authorities have previously said the Task Force to Investigate Terrorism Financing will focus on trade-based money laundering, terror funding streams from Latin American countries as well as assisting regional partners in combating financing for terrorism.
