Russia, Ukraine and the European Union did not reach an agreement on the Ukraine-EU free trade deal during another round of trilateral talks in Brussels, according to Russian Economic Development Minister Alexei Ulyukayev.

BRUSSELS (Sputnik) — Russia, Ukraine and the European Commission failed to reach an agreement on the Ukraine-EU free trade deal during another round of trilateral talks in Brussels, Russian Economic Development Minister Alexei Ulyukayev said Tuesday.

"Russia, Ukraine and the European Union did not reach an agreement," Ulyukayev told reporters.

"This was our fifth ministerial meeting, we have been carrying out this work for a long time. And if the matters on which we managed to agree today were agreed a year ago, I would have thought that we were moving in the right direction. However, since we have only a month left, the situation still causes concern," he continued.

The minister noted that "extraordinary efforts" are needed to reach consensus, and the sides will continue talks both between experts and on a ministerial level.
