A sailor, injured in the shooting at the Navy Operational Support Center (NOSC) in Chattanooga, died, according to the statement of the US Navy Office of Information.

Kuwait-Born Shooter, 'All-American Kid,' Kills Four US Marines in Tennessee
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — A sailor, injured on Thursday by a shooter that attacked two Naval Reserve facilities in Chattanooga, Tennessee, died from his injuries, the US Navy Office of Information said in a press release on Saturday.

On Thursday, a shooter identified as local resident Muhammad Youssef Abdulazeez, attacked a local military recruiting office and then fled, pursued by law enforcement. He drove to the US Naval Reserve Center, where he shot and killed four active-duty military servicemen and injured three more people. Abdulazeez also died in the attack.

"A male Navy Petty Officer succumbed to wounds received in the July 16 shooting at the Navy Operational Support Center (NOSC) in Chattanooga, Tennessee July 18 at 2:17 a.m. [07:17 GMT]," the statement read.

The attack is now being investigated as an act of terrorism by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and other local and state law enforcement officials to determine whether the gunman acted alone or was inspired or directed.

Authorities are also looking into Abdulazeez’s recent trips to the Middle East in 2014, and his potential ties with the Islamic State or with other terrorist groups.
