President Barack Obama commented on the critics on Wednesday during his press conference in the White House. He said that one of the main achievements of this deal is that it was achieved through negotiations, a not the use of force.
“[…] There really are only two alternatives here: either the issue of Iran obtaining a nuclear weapon is resolved diplomatically, during negotiation. Or it is resolved through force, through war. Those are the options,” Obama said.
Republicans seem to prefer hard-power. They sharply criticize the agreement, without presenting any other options.
“They have not put forward anything that is a better idea. And it is largely because they want, they prefer a war,” Brad Friedman from radio Sputnik's BradCast said while discussing the results of the recent Iran deal.
The agreement is considered a major achievement as parties finally managed to find a compromise after decades of confrontation. Iran will abandon production of highly enriched uranium, required for construction of a nuclear bomb, and remove two thirds of its installed centrifuges.
“It is a grown-up deal. It is a complex agreement between a lot of international bodies,” Friedman said. “If I have a choice between this and going to war, I will take this,” he added.
