    According to preliminary reports, medics and emergency services have already been dispatched to the site of the incident, while the head of the Mexico City government Claudia Sheinbaum has arrived at the scene.

    A metro train bridge has collapsed in the Mexican capital, killing and injuring dozens of people, according to the local authorities. The incident occurred on Tuesday on Line 12 of the metro, near the stations of Tezonco and Olivos in the southeastern part of the city.

      34 People Have Been Hospitalised as Rescue Operation Continues, Civil Defense Department Says

      The Mexican Secretariat of Civilian Protection said that 34 people had been hospitalised following the collapse of the subway overpass.

      "At the moment, the official figures are as follows — 15 people killed, 34 hospitalised, rescue operation is underway," the secretariat tweeted.

      Mexican Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard Calls to Investigate 'Terrible Tragedy'

      "What happened today with the Metro is a terrible tragedy. My solidarity with the victims and their families. Of course, the causes must be investigated and responsibilities defined. I reiterate I am at the disposal of authorities to help in whatever is necessary", Ebrard tweeted.

      The metro's 12 line was built when Ebrard was mayor of Mexico City.
