Numerous Christians around the world, including Catholics, Protestants, and some Orthodox groups celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ on 25 December, by conducting special holiday ceremonies.

Pope Francis leads the traditional Midnight Mass at the Vatican on Tuesday with thousands of Catholics from around the world attending the event at St Peter's Basilica.

The head of the Catholic Church will also address the people in St. Peter's Square on Christmas at noon, giving his blessing 'Urbi et Orbi'.
