According to the US deputy assistant secretary at the Bureau of Oceans, Environment and Science, the risk of conflict between the United States and Russia in the Arctic region is currently low.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The risk of conflict between the United States and Russia in the Arctic region is currently low, US Deputy Assistant Secretary at the Bureau of Oceans, Environment and Science David Balton told reporters on Monday.

"Comparing to other regions in the world, the Arctic remains peaceful and stable. The threat of conflict, I believe is low," Balton said when asked about a possibility of US-Russia conflict in the region.
