ANKARA (Sputnik) — Karlov was shot by a gunman at an art gallery exhibition opening in Ankara late on Monday. Doctors announced the envoy's death 40 minutes after his hospitalization. The Russian Foreign Ministry said it considers the attack a terrorist act.
"A memorial service will be held at the airport today, with the participation of Turkey's top leadership and representatives of the diplomatic corps. Afterward, the body will be repatriated accompanied by the widow, the embassy's doctor and an Emergencies Ministry doctor," press attache Irina Kasimova told RIA Novosti.
