Russia Sends 18 Investigators, Officials to Probe Ambassador's Murder in Turkey
A group of 18 Russian Investigative Committee, Foreign Ministry and other special department members has been sent to Turkey to investigate Ambassador Andrey Karlov's assassination in Ankara, the Kremlin said Tuesday.
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Karlov was shot by a gunman at an art gallery exhibition opening in Ankara late on Monday. Doctors announced the envoy's death 40 minutes after his hospitalization. The Russian Foreign Ministry said it considers the attack a terrorist act.
"The group will operate in Turkey as part of an investigation of Russian Ambassador Andrey Karlov. This agreement has been reached during an earlier telephone conversation between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters.
