The opinion polls industry collapsed at the US presidential elections, prominent US sociologist Sam Wang said on the Princeton Election Consortium (PEC) website.

French Right-Wing Front National Leader Congratulates Trump on US Election Win
WASHINGTON (Sputnik) The PEC website, headed by Wang, predicted that Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton would win the elections with the probability of over 99 percent. Presently, Republican candidate Donald Trump is close to victory in the presidential run-off as he is leading in a number of key states, contrary to the polls' predictions.

"The business about 65%, 91%, 93%, 99% probability is not the main point. The entire polling industry – public, campaign-associated, aggregators – ended up with data that missed tonight’s results by a very large margin. There is now the question of understanding how a mature industry could have gone so wrong. And of course, most of all, there is the shock of a likely Trump presidency. I apologize that I underestimated the possibility of such an event," Wang said.

In October, Wang announced he was sure that Clinton would win the elections. Trump is ahead of his Clinton with 264 electoral college votes against Clinton’s 215 votes.
