WASHINGTON (Sputnik) – The United States is deeply worried about the reports that Iranian-American oil executive Siamak Namazi and his father, Baquer Namazi, have been sentenced to ten years in prison in Iran, US State Department deputy spokesman Mark Toner said in a statement on Tuesday.
“We are deeply concerned about reports that US citizens Siamak Namazi and Baquer Namazi have each been sentenced to 10 years in prison,” Toner said in the statement.
Toner added that Siamak has been unjustly detained in Iran for over a year, while Baquer was reportedly detained at the end of February 2016.
The State Department called for the immediate release of all US citizens unjustly detained in Iran, including the Namazis.
Toner also called for Iran’s cooperation about Robert Levinson’s whereabouts, who went missing in Iran in 2007.
