US President Arrives in Germany Ahead of Hannover Messe Opening (WATCH)

US President Barack Obama arrived in Hannover, the capital of the German federal state of Lower Saxony, on Sunday with a working visit, local media reported.

BERLIN (Sputnik) – Later on Sunday, Obama and German Chancellor Angela Merkel are expected to open the world's leading trade fair for industrial technology, Hannover Messe 2016, the N-24 TV channel said.

​Obama is the first sitting US president to take part in the Hannover Messe trade show. The United States is the partner country of this year’s Hannover fair that kicks off on Monday and will last until Friday.

​Founded in 1947, the Hannover Messe trade show attracts about 6,500 exhibitors and 200,000 visitors.
