Earlier in the day, WGAD ruled that Assange was arbitrarily detained in the Ecuadorian Embassy in London by the Swedish and UK authorities, adding that he is entitled to freedom of movement and to compensation.
"The Government [of Sweden] does not agree with the assessment made by the majority of the Working Group," the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs said in an official statement acquired by Sputnik.
Assange has been residing at the Ecuadorian Embassy in London since August 2012. Ecuador's decision to grant Assange asylum helped him avoid prosecution by the United States, where he could face multiple charges due to controversial revelations made by his whistleblower website.
The US charges against the whistleblower include espionage, conspiracy, theft of government property and computer fraud — under which Assange could in total face 45 years in prison.
He initially sought refuge in the embassy in response to moves by the British authorities to extradite him to Sweden, where he is wanted for questioning in relation to allegations of sexual assault and rape.
Assange submitted a complaint against London and Stockholm to WGAD on September 12, 2014.
