The authorities of the Volgograd region stated that preparations for the 2018 World Cup have allowed Volgograd to make a serious breakthrough in the development of hotel infrastructure. For example, the region's administration is ready to create floating hotels, if necessary, on the Volga river to accommodate a portion of the guests to the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
Russia will host the FIFA World Cup for the first time in its history from June 14 to July 15. Games of the tournament will be held in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Rostov-on-Don, Sochi, Yekaterinburg, Saransk, Kaliningrad, Nizhny Novgorod, Kazan, Volgograd, and Samara.
