    State Department spokesman Mark Toner said that Turkey and the militants it backs in northern Syria had the right to defend themselves against Russian airstrikes.

    But does self-defense suppose shooting an unarmed pilot while he was parachuting to the earth after ejecting from his downed plane? Normal people call it murder.
