Protests erupted in the United States last month after African American man George Floyd died in Minneapolis police custody. During his arrest on 25 May, officer Derek Chauvin knelt on the man's neck for nearly nine minutes while Floyd begged him to stop, saying that he could not breathe.
After Floyd's death, Chauvin was charged with second-degree murder, while three other officers have since been charged with aiding and abetting murder.
Despite this, mass protests began across the country, with numerous cases of looting, vandalism, and arson.
