Pentagon Awards $30 Million Contract for Unmanned Undersea Vehicles

US software company Metron has been awarded a $30 million contract for a Navy program aimed at advancing the science behind automated, unmanned undersea vehicles, the Department of Defense announced in a release.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) – Metron Inc. was awarded a $29,820,458 cost-plus-fixed-fee contract for an effort titled advanced autonomy for unmanned undersea vehicles to advance the science of unmanned systems through design, implementation, and testing of software to accomplish advanced autonomy goals, according to Wednesday’s release.

The company will also be required to design and integrate government-provided hardware to demonstrate other emerging autonomy capabilities in various military missions, the release added.

This contract contains options that if exercised would raise the contract’s total value to $34 million.
