BAE Systems Awarded $368Mln Contract For Submarine Weapons Engineering Support

US defense contractor BAE Systems has been awarded a contract worth up to $368 million by the US Navy to provide systems engineering and support services to the Strategic Weapons System and Attack Weapons System on ballistic missile class submarines, the company said in a press release on Wednesday.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — BAE Systems was awarded a five-year contract worth up to $368 million to provide systems engineering and support services to the Navy’s Strategic Systems Programs (SSP) office, the company stated in a release.

BAE provides expertise to the Navy to maintain, optimize, and deploy seaborne weapons systems that serve as a strategic deterrent against major threats to the security of the United States and its allies, president of BAE Systems INtelligence Security sector DeEtte Gray stated in the release.

Under the contract terms, BAE Systems will support weapons systems integration and provide test engineering services and special test equipment for SSP, the release stated, for the US Ohio, UK Vanguard, Ohio replacement and the UK Dreadnought classes.

BAE Systems will also provide information technology support, develop fleet documentation materials, assist with training programs, conduct facility maintenance monitoring, and offer nuclear and conventional weapons safety support.
