WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — At issue is a $64 million service contract awarded to PAE Government Services, which supplied gasoline and diesel fuel for vehicles used by State Department employees in Iraq and generators that provide electricity to US facilities.
"Regional Security Officers described problems with vehicle performance, such as stalling and hesitation during acceleration," the report stated. "These issues could jeopardize the safety and security of department personnel as they operate in a high-threat environment."
The report said PAE failed to inspect the fuel for minimum octane ratings, sulfur content limits, water content and sediment.
The report recommended that the State Department either seeks a partial refund or additional supplies and services from the contractor to remedy poor contractor performance.
