President-elect Donald Trump is considering the Attorney General of the US state of Oklahoma, Scott Pruitt, to head the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), media reported on Wednesday.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — According to the Politico newspaper, Trump is meeting with Pruitt at Trump Tower in New York City today.

The president-elect's transition team is expected to announce the pick for the head of EPA after the meeting.

Pruitt, a Republican, has been an EPA critic for policies and practices adopted during the presidency of outgoing President Barack Obama, including the agency’s air quality rules.

Pruitt has sued the EPA over its water regulations and its climate change restrictions for power plants, the media noted.
