WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Obama, appearing alongside his host, Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras, was commenting on suggestions that the popularity of Trump and other right-leaning leaders were a rejection of his comparatively liberal worldview.
"I still don’t feel responsible for what the president-elect says or does," Obama told reporters.
He explained that sweeping political changes are common when voters are open to new ideas or under stress.
However, he said tribalism and nationalism could be dangerous if they take hold in the United States or Europe.
Since the November 8 vote, Obama has stressed the importance of a smooth transition of power and has declined to comment on Trump's political appointments.
