Residents of the US state of California approved Proposition 64, making the recreational use of marijuana legal in the state, local media reported Wednesday.

Washington’s second-in-the-nation legal marijuana market opened last summer to a dearth of weed, with some stores periodically closed because they didn’t have pot to sell and prices were through the roof. Six months later, the equation has flipped, bringing serious growing pains to the new industry. Prices are starting to come down in the state’s licensed pot shops, but due to a glut, growers are struggling to sell their marijuana. - Sputnik International
Recreational Marijuana Use on the Ballot for a Quarter of All Americans
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The proposition allows state residents over 21 years of age to buy, carry and use up to an ounce (28.5 grams) of marijuana for recreational purposes, the Los Angeles Times reported.

Californians voted in favor of the law six years after narrowly rejecting it.

The medical use of cannabis became legal in the state 20 years ago.
