WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Americans should vote on Election Day because the future of the United States is at stake in the 2016 presidential election, President Barack Obama said in a Twitter message on Tuesday.
"Today, progress is on the ballot," Obama stated in the message. "Go vote — then make sure your friends, your family and everyone you know votes too."

Having campaigned in recent months in support of Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, Obama said he wanted a successor who would continue moving forward based on the achievements of his administration.
Obama took advantage of early voting, casting his ballot in his home state of Illinois on October 7.
