When one looks back two weeks ago, Trump was almost even with Hillary Clinton in terms of his popularity. However, the incident with the tape has taken his public ratings down.
"We have two of the most flawed people running for president I can remember," Guttman told Sputnik. According to the expert, every Republican could beat Hillary Clinton during the election campaign, with Trump being rather an extraordinary exception.
The latest developments have mired Mr. Trump's campaign further into chaos, bringing down his support ratings and ensuring a comfortable margin for his Democratic rival, Hillary Clinton, Guttman said.
On Tuesday, the White House voiced its disapproval of Trump's comments, with press secretary Josh Earnest saying "those statements consisted of sexual assault." Since Friday, multiple outlets show Clinton with a double-digit lead.
"Hillary is a terrible campaigner. She ran for president in 2008 and was beaten by US Senator from Illinois Barack Obama. Everybody put her down. […]If it would be somebody other than Trump, any of those other six people running, I think, most of them would probably be ahead of her now," Guttman stated.
The most worrying thing, according to the expert, is that except for her "superstar team" Hillary has made no significant achievements over her long political career. During a public discussion, Guttman asked his counterparts to name some of her accomplishments, but almost all of them failed to do so.
"I asked what has Hillary Clinton done in her lifetime? Tell me now, what she's done? And nobody could say anything. They said she supports women, but as a Secretary of State, in four years, what did she do?— She travelled a lot," Gittman recalled his conversation.
"So it's really hard to point to what she's actually done. And it is very concerning," the expert concluded.
