US sailors who display behaviors associated with suicide will be contacted by case managers for 90 days following initial medical treatment under a program the US Navy announced in a press release.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Capt. Michael Fisher of the Navy’s Operational Stress Control and Suicide Prevention Branch said in the release Friday that the "program is designed to boost our existing efforts to prevent suicide across the fleet by showing there is someone that will stay in touch with them and make sure they are doing well."

So far in 2016, 42 US sailors have taken their own lives, according to a Navy website.
