Assange: Clinton's Campaign is Full of 'Disturbing' Anti-Russia 'Hysteria'
WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton is deliberately stirring up anti-Russian and anti-Muslim bigotry as well as false racist allegations that could get even worse than the Joe McCarthy witch-hunts of the 1950s, antiwar activist Cindy Sheehan told Sputnik.

"I think the hysteria against Russia — and against socialists and communists — could get as bad under Clinton as the 1950s, but certainly anti-Muslim hysteria here and around the world is worse than then,"Sheehan, a Gold Star mother whose son was killed in Iraq in 2004, said on Friday.

On Thursday, WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange told Fox News that Clinton’s campaign was full of anti-Russia hysteria as the Democrats were trying to undermine the campaign of their opponent, Republican nominee Donald Trump.

Sheehan pointed out that Clinton’s tactic of trying to stir up anti-Russian hysteria was already being practiced by US President Barack Obama and his senior officials.

"Of course, the Obama regime has also been ratcheting up the demonization against Russia, as well," she remarked.

Clinton’s tactic also revealed her real political identification with the war-mongering neo-conservatives who are abandoning the Republican Party in increasing numbers to support her, Sheehan noted.

"Hillary Clinton is a prominent neo-conservative supported by neo-conservatives like Fred Kagan, who love to foment anti-Russian hatred and fear," she commented.

On Friday, leading neo-conservative Paul Wolfowitz, who served as deputy secretary of defense under US President George W. Bush, announced that he too would be supporting Clinton’s candidacy.

Sheehan also observed that the failure of the US media to effectively scrutinize and expose Clinton’s war-mongering and fear-raising rhetoric exposed the fallacy that the United States was a real democracy as it lacked open debate and true freedom of speech.

"If the USA really was a democracy, transparency would be respected and aimed for, not blocked," she maintained.

In his interview with Fox, Assange said that Clinton is banking on the promotion of national security.

In July, Assange’s WikiLeaks website published nearly 20,000 of hacked emails that apparently showed Democratic National Committee (DNC) members discussing ways to undercut Senator Bernie Sanders’ campaign in the race for the ruling party’s nomination in favor of Clinton.

Later that month, Clinton’s staff accused Trump of allegedly cooperating with Russian hackers, who were suspected of hacking into the DNC’s servers. Trump has denied the accusation.

In his Fox interview, Assange also pledged to release new "significant" documents from Clinton’s campaign before the presidential elections are held in the United States in November.

Sheehan’s son, US Army Specialist Casey served in the First Cavalry Division and was killed in action on April 4, 2004.
